Respite placements with Key Assets Fostering are short term, and provide a break for birth families or foster parents. Respite fostering usually involves looking after a child for a weekend, one week or two weeks.
For a respite foster parent, these placements involve caring for children, often with complex needs, who live with other foster parents or their birth families. The goal of a respite placement is to provide primary caregivers with time to take a vacation, to manage various responsibilities, or to spend more time with other children in the household.
Despite the relatively short length of respite foster care placements, we need foster parents who may be required to care for children and youth with complex psychological or emotional needs.
If you want more information about respite placements or if you think you could offer respite foster care, contact your local office today.
