Child and Youth Counsellors

Key Assets Fostering provides Child and Youth Counsellors (also known as child and Youth Care Workers) for every child in placement. We believe that dedicated support is vital to the success of the service we provide to our foster parents as well as our children.

Child and Youth Counsellors help to identify the individual needs of the children and youth who come into care and, in partnership with other Key Assets Fostering support workers, provide whatever support s are necessary to create a positive and lasting difference.

How Child and Youth Counsellors help

The range of services offered by our dedicated child and Youth Counsellors may include:

  • Day to day support – in the home or at school.
  • Transportation – if required, to and from school, visits with birth families, Key Assets Fostering activities, vacations, and other recreational or social events.
  • Contact – facilitating contact between a child and their birth family.
  • Vacations – organizing and facilitating Key Assets Fostering vacations
  • Social Activities – organizing and facilitating Key Assets Fostering recreational and social activities for foster children and the sons and daughters of foster parents.
  • Support – providing support outside of office hours to help in the event of a crisis or emergency.

The support services provided by Key Assets Fostering are designed to be flexible and responsive to the needs of each child in foster care. The above examples are, therefore, not exhaustive.
