Children we foster

Key Assets Fostering specializes in placing children and youths with complex needs across Northern Ontario, Southern Ontario and Newfoundland and Labrador. This includes children of First Nation and Aboriginal origin with specific cultural requirements.

We therefore welcome inquiries from a diverse range of people considering fostering across these three regions.

Who are the children we foster?

The age range of the children we foster varies greatly. Primarily, we provide placements to older children with challenging needs, but we can also place younger children with extremely high needs, as well as babies.

Additionally, we can look after medically fragile children and children with special needs, such as Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder or Autism. We also provide parent and child placements.

Foster children with complex needs

Key Assets Fostering provides a specialist service for looking after children with complex needs. Some children express their emotions and feelings through difficult or challenging behaviour, such as tantrums, being withdrawn, aggressive, clingy, rejecting or over-compliant. Other children may act older or younger than their years or, as a result of being placed with many different foster parents, may not know what is expected of them or may find it difficult to develop trusting relationships with adults.
