Key Assets Fostering supports the unique needs of Aboriginal children in foster care in Northern and Southern Ontario. Particularly in areas in the North, there is a high volume of Aboriginal children who cannot live with their birth parents for any number of reasons.
Through our ‘Caring For Our Own Children’ program of foster care in Northern Ontario, we hope to find homes for a lot of these children within their local community. However, where this is not possible, we are looking to offer specialized training and support to foster parents in Southern Ontario who feel they can encourage and promote a child’s cultural and ethnic identity.
