Information for child and family services

Key Assets Fostering is an independent organization providing family services in parts of Ontario.

Formed in 2009, we have license to provide a family-based foster care service within a specified region where we are building an initial foundation of fostering placements. We are currently exploring options to broaden our license for expanded delivery of child and family services.

Our service provision is designed to meet a wide range of needs, including those of children and young people with complex needs and complicated histories who may make considerable demands upon their foster family, as well as children and youth of First Nation and Aboriginal origin. Our recruitment programs are geared to bring in a wide range of foster parents to whom we can match our placements appropriately from a geographical and cultural perspective.

Our approach

Our approach brings the established framework of other Fostering First International organizations into Canada through the delivery of Team Parenting™. Team Parenting™ provides an intensive amount of training and support to foster parents, children and youth, and families. To achieve this, we employ a range of multi-disciplinary child services professionals.

Our family-based services

We provide a wide range of family-based foster care services for children and youth. This includes:

  • Emergency placements – providing care for children who need somewhere safe to stay immediately, usually for a few nights.
  • Short term – we have foster parents who can provide accommodation for children for a few weeks or months until difficulties at home are managed or alternative plans are made for the child’s future.
  • Long term – we offer care for children until they reach adulthood or are ready to live independently.
  • Respite – whether children are living with their own families or foster parents, this facilitates a short break for the family/foster parents and the children.
  • Parent and Child – foster parents can look after a parent and her/his child/ren or a young woman who is pregnant.

Working with you

Child and family service providers are able to commission our services on an individual basis or through block contracts for particular groups of children and according to a range of specified components at regional or province wide levels.

The role of Key Assets Fostering is to complement the child and family services of relevant departments by working in strategic partnership with you. By working together we can offer children and young people a brighter future.
