Foreword

Jan Rees and Jim Cockburn founded the Core Assets Group of Companies originally with Foster Care Associates (FCA) in 1994. FCA and Key Assets Fostering are joined by eight other international fostering operations as part of Fostering First International, a multi-national fostering organization providing high quality fostering placements for children and youth.

Jan Rees remains an Executive Director for Key Assets to ensure that the foster parents and the children are at the centre of everything that we do.

“Having been a foster carer myself, I know that fostering can be a life changing experience. My own experiences inspired me to set up Foster Care Associates, some 14 years ago. Since then, I have admired the work of foster carers from all walks of life who have helped bring about positive change to the lives of many looked after children.

“If Key Assets Fostering is to shape a better future for fostered children, it must continue to provide a quality service that recognizes the challenges faced by its foster carers. Support and training are vital in ensuring all our carers are properly equipped to deal with the fostering task.

“This will allow us to continue to improve outcomes for children and young people in our care. I hope that this website will encourage readers to consider becoming a foster carer and experience all the rewards that come with it.”
